My name is Hazel and I’ve been interested in proofreading since my first visit out to the USA in 2005 when I picked up a menu and spent the first 15 minutes correcting all the spelling mistakes on it while everyone else placed their food and drink orders. The seed was planted…
Years later, in 2010, I was working for an oil and gas company and got tasked with proofreading and editing the monthly reports that went out to clients. It was here that my proofreading responsibilities grew within my corporate work-life, and I later began to realise that not only did I thoroughly enjoy it, but I was naturally talented at it too! I therefore began looking for proofreading outside of the work place.
I proofread a friend’s thesis (for which she obtained a distinction!), and I also began proofreading my stepfather’s novels that he was writing (all of which have now been published).
I signed up on a freelance website and from there began growing a small client base and eventually reached the point where I knew that this is what I want to do with my life… and so Whichword was born!
In 2022 I completed my BA English, which focuses on both literature and linguistics, so I bring that knowledge with me when I work on your documents; whether they are works of fiction, academic writing or a client report that needs to be absolutely word-perfect.
You can rest assured that I give 100% attention to detail when taking on a project, and I put on my superhero cape to bring out my super power – that of picking up and fixing all the typos, errors, and inconsistencies you might have missed in your document.
